Oh to be Travis McKie.
The John Marshall rising senior seems to have the world in his hands.
He’s committed to Wake Forest, a top-notch ACC school.
He’s grown to 6-7, working to be 200 pounds, with a grade-point average well over 3.
He’s Richmond next and the latest DigitalSports player of the year.
But before he leaves the capital city, he wants an elusive state crown that Jayem has failed to get, reaching the state final four in the past two seasons.
“You’ve been there twice, you know what to expect, you know what to get,” McKie said. “You’ve got to go harder, lift weights more, be a gym rat. Just go constantly.”

A smooth jumper, tight ballhandling and good leadership usually results in a scholarship.
It didn’t for Randall Ward, which should pay big dividends for Hampden-Sydney, who picked up John Marshall’s senior.
Ward will fit right in at point guard beside former Cosby star Ben Jessee, who had an all-freshman ODAC season for the Tigers.
“I just plan on going up there and starting a new leaf,” Ward said. “Lead off where I left off in high school and try to have a lot of success up there.”
