Slamfest IX, the brainchild of Thomas Leachman, returns again, Saturday, January 23, featuring what Leachman calls the “City Championship.”
John Marshall, led by Wake Forest-bound Travis McKie, and Benedictine, paced by junior and ACC recruit Michael Gbinije, will battle for the mythical crown at 7:15 p.m. at VCU’s Siegel Center.
The afternoon starts off with Atlantic Shores and William & Mary commit Brandon Britt taking on Deep Run at 4:15 p.m.
Then University of North Carolina-bound P.J. Hairston will lead Dudley of North Carolina against Deshawn Stitt and Phoebus of the Eastern Region.
Potomac and Mount St. Mary’s commit Justin Burrell will camp the night against the youthful L.C. Bird Skyhawks at 8:45.
All games will take place at VCU’s Siegel Center. Tickets are $10 for general admission, $22 for courtside.
