Offensive POW – Oct. 16

A.J. Harris,
John Marshall Justices

Year: Sr.    Age: 17

Position: Quarterback

Performance: Harris went 15 for 23 for 264 yards, with three touchdowns and three interceptions leading JM to a upset of Patrick Henry.

On PH win: “It’s the biggest game of my high-school career. I was just calm and made some great reads. My offensive line worked with me.”

On team believing in him: “It feels good to know that I stepped up. I just told them to be patient and have confidence in me. It took longer than expected but it came.”

Funniest teammate:Maurice Johnson. He’s stupid. He just do and say crazy stuff that doesn’t make since. He’s so crazy. He’s a good player, but a comedian.”

On JM coach Marvin Bridges: “He’s a yelling coach, but he gives us good criticism. Just listen to what he says and keep your head up.”

Favorite class: “Yearbook.”

Invite any three people to dinner: “My girlfriend [ShaDarrah Williams], my mother [Queen Kilby] and my little brother [Damian Harris].”

On rest of season: “We’ve just gotta come in the game with a positive mentality. The basic gameplan for the rest of the season is discipline.”

Teammate you wouldn’t want to be hit by:T.J. Thompson. He’s a hard hitter. I see his hits in the game.”

On interceptions: “My first INT I rushed the pass. I forced it. I should’ve thrown it out of bounds. Sometimes I just have to throw a better ball.”

What makes you standout: “My accuracy and knowing the defense.”
